Arena Alta is located among some of the best sportfishing in the world. Surfcast the beach for grande roosterfish, Spanish mackerel, jack crevalle, and the occasional cubera snapper or snook. Hop on a local panga boat, or head offshore on a center console for marlin, yellowfin tuna, sailfish and more.
You never know what you may see walking through Arena Alta. In fact, Scarlet Macaws and more than 350 different species of birds inhabit nearby Osa Peninsula.
There is no shortage of surfing opportunities along the beaches surrounding Arena Alta. The famous surfing town Pavones (home to one of the world's longest left breaking waves) is about an hour drive south. The beach immediately in front of Arena Alta can also produce good surfing conditions.
There are many excursion opportunities available in the area surrounding Arena Alta. Taking a boat to the Osa Wildlife Refuge, whale & dolphin watching, spending a day at the waterfalls, and snorkeling coral reefs in the Golfo Dulce are some of our favorites.
Yoga classes are offered during the week in town, held in the mornings in beautiful studios overlooking the ocean. All levels are encouraged.
There are several restaurants and bars in nearby Zancudo. There are also local bakers who deliver breads, pizzas and more. Fresh shrimp and lobster can be purchased from local fishermen.
